The demolition of the Euston Arch in 1962 was the subject of great controversy and public comment. Some of the stones ended up in the River Lee and were discovered when dredging the river as part of the construction of the Olympic Park. A campaign was launched to re-build the arch as part of the HS2 development incorporating the reclaimed stone into the new building. AMA provided the cost plan for this endeavour. It was a fascinating exercise which required using historic plans to measure the works and discussing costs with specialist masons and wrought iron manufacturers.
